微軟近期悄悄地將手機版 Edge 瀏覽器改名，多加上了「AI 瀏覽器」，同步修改了 App 的敘述說明，展現全面搶攻 AI 領域的決心。
在 iOS 的 App Store 以及 Android 的 Play Store 兩大平台，微軟 Edge 瀏覽器原先名稱為「Microsoft Edge」，近期都加上了「AI 瀏覽器」兩個字。敘述也花了更多篇幅在敘述 AI 功能，像是內建的 Copilot 聊天機器人、DALL–E 3 圖片生成，以及能夠摘要 PDF 的功能。
對此有網友就吐槽，認為 Edge 只是擁有部分 AI 功能，不能當作一款真正的 AI 瀏覽器。外媒《Windowscentral》則是認為，Edge 的 AI 功能已經可以與網頁內容互動，足以稱為一款 AI 瀏覽器。並且，此次更名也符合符合微軟執行長 Satya Nadella 先前公開的策略，要讓 AI 進駐各種產品之中。
相較於 Google Chrome 或是蘋果 Safari 以及 Firefox，微軟近期整個發展重心均放在 AI 人工智慧，旗下 Edge 積極引進各式生成式 AI 技術，用戶可以與 GPT-4 技術支援的 Copilot 對話，用於搜尋提問或是分析問題，帶來更便利的網頁瀏覽體驗。
根據統計網站 Statcounter 數據顯示，微軟 Edge 在 2023 年 12 月電腦瀏覽器的市占高居第二，已經成功擠下蘋果 Safari，上月市占率 11.9% 以創下史上新高。然而以行動裝置平台來看，Edge 顯然不具有影響力，並不在前五名之中。落後給 Google Chrome、Safari、全新手機收購samsung Internet、Opera、UC Browser 等競爭對手。
